What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?
Continue to thrive and thoughtfully grow as a city. Elect wise and unifying leaders. Continued development and beatification of downtown, south waterfront, old city and baseball stadium area. Embrace our culture and the things we do well. Continue to be a loving community where we strive to serve others well.
What is Knoxville's Best Kept Secret?
It is an incredible place to come to school, find a spouse, raise a family, pursue a career, enjoy the outdoors and experience community and relationships. Knoxville has a great culture. It is not too big and not too small and gives you the opportunity to set your own pace of life.
What would you do to strengthen Knoxville?
I have had incredible mentors since I moved to Knoxville in 2001 and have benefitted tremendously from others pouring into me. I want to strengthen Knoxville by helping mentor the next generation and encouraging other leaders to do the same.
What is your favorite Knoxville memory?
Too many to list. Growing up going to UT football games with parents and grandparents. Fun times in college at UT. Meeting my wife here and getting married here. The birth of my three sons here. Going to the UT-Bama game in 2022 with my family and storming the field.
What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand?
Bible
What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?
Be hungry and humble. It's not about you. - Herbert Slatery (I believe he cites Governor Haslam and Rick Warren for those quotes)
What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?
Be confident with humility. Don't worry about trying to be cool or what other people think about you.
