Tammy White embraces servant leadership as the president and CEO of Leadership Knoxville. She has a strong sense of community and desire to serve.

She joined Leadership Knoxville in 2009, bringing extensive experience in the public, private and civic sectors. Tammy launched the Mayors’ Leadership Luncheon, an annual event hosted by the City of Knoxville and Knox County mayors to inspire community leaders to positive action. During her tenure, Tammy has overseen the addition of youth and collegiate leadership programs, Youth Leadership Knoxville and Leadership Knoxville Scholars to create a pipeline of leaders. Additionally, she helped launch Connect Knox and The Big Table, which serves as a civic solutions lab to convene stakeholders on pertinent issues in the community.

She oversaw the creation and launch of Encore in June 2023, aimed to help post-professional leaders engage in the community in meaningful ways. Collectively, these programs are helping Leadership Knoxville intentionally build a continuum of leaders across sectors and generations throughout our community and region.

Tammy earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from University of South Carolina and a master’s degree in conflict management from Lipscomb University. She is a Certified Community Leadership Practitioner (CCLP).

In 2010, Tammy was appointed by the lieutenant governor to the State of Tennessee Ethics Commission and currently serves as secretary and past chair. Gov. Bill Lee appointed her to the Keep Tennessee Beautiful State Advisory Council. She serves on the board of directors for Mental Health Association of East Tennessee and is a member of Executive Women’s Association.

She previously served on the board of directors for Association of Leadership Programs and Knoxville Fellows. Tammy is a past member of University of Tennessee’s Chancellor’s Associates and is a graduate of Leadership East Tennessee and Leadership Loudon County.

In 2008, Tammy was named one of five Women to Watch by skirt! Magazine Knoxville and was a 2015 finalist for the YWCA Tribute to Women award. In 2022, she was the Trefoil Society honoree for the Girl Scouts of the Southern Appalachians, an award that symbolizes ethical leadership values.

A South Carolina native, Tammy has called Knoxville home for more than 30 years. She is the proud mom of daughter, Courtney, who attends North Greenville University and is a scholarship player for the women’s lacrosse team. Tammy serves as an elder at Grace Presbyterian Church and in her free time, enjoys cooking, traveling, listening to live music and fellowship with friends and family.
