What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?

I see Knoxville staying scruffy. The food scene and small business development will continue to grow. I also see two National Championships for the Tennessee Football team.

What is Knoxville’s Best Kept Secret?

Not sure I have ever found that world record Rubik’s Cube.

What would you do to strengthen Knoxville?

Keep caring for its people. Knoxville will grow but will only strengthen with dedicated servant leaders who care about this community.

What is your favorite Knoxville memory?

My twin brother won a contest 17 years ago to be guest coach under Pat Summit for the Duke/UT game at TBA. It was an amazing Knoxville experience to see her work on the sidelines and in the locker room.

What is your favorite book or what book is currently on your nightstand?

Harvey Penick’s Little Red Book is currently on my desk on loan from a good friend and golf buddy, Jeff Lee.

What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?

My mentor’s best advice is to show up and show people you care. My father, Dr Barry Winston, is my mentor.

What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?

Study for the driver’s license exam so that your brother and friends don’t have to drive you around till you’re 18! And there is life after high school and it is wonderful!
